HI i have a 150g tank now with the sunsun 304b on it... I have 2 pacu and 2 oscars in tank now with pleco and i know its gonna get crowded soon.. but i went ahead and bought another 304b canister filter and plan on running both on tank..

right now with 1 canister filter i have the inlet hose on one side of tank and the outlet on the other...

my question is running 2 filters ill have 2 inlets and 2 outlet in tank, would it be better to run the hoses so both inlets are on same side of tank and both outlets are on the other??

Or would it be better to put 1 inlet and 1 outlet on one side, and 1 inlet and 1 outlet on other side ???

what would circulate the water best? how should i position my hoses for best ??

thanks again i hope this makes sense

U want a nice smooth laminar flow, to achieve this you want all ur current to flow together, a siphon on both ends will also aid in better mechanical filtration, never put to outlets facing eachother.

I tried doing inlets on one side and outlets on the other side and I didnt like it. I found that the flow rate wasnt good enough in my 100g for my fluval 404s to get much circulation on the side with the inlets. It may have worked better if I had power heads or bigger canister filters with higher flow rates.

I'd go with what the other guys already suggested and have inlets and outlets on both sides, that way you have decent circulation throughout the tank and not a bunch on one side and non on the other.

I rum two canisters on my 450. I have both pump returns on one side of the tank and both inlets on the other side. Bonus to this set up is i made a nice hiding spot for my huge Niger cat right near the intakes. He stays there 90% of the time and all the poo goes straight into the filter :-)

I currently have both intakes for my FX5's on the left side of my tank, and both outputs on the right. I was trying to set up a definite current, but I'm not sure I've accomplished it. I have no issues, but I often wonder IF it would have been better to have one intake & one output on each side.

thanks for the replys... im wondering too it seems mixed.... I dont have powerheads yet so im thinking ill have inlets one on each side so the water is turning over on both sides of the tank... I should have canister in a day or 2 ill work with it and see how it goes.
