running 2 canister filters question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I put inlets on same side of tank one lower one higher. Push all current towards the inlets.

If your hoses are long enough just set up which ever is easiest and if you arent happy try the other way. No penalty besides set up time

Really doesn't matter which you go with which ever is easy to setup.

But it does matter, your outputs create ur current and flow, which, directly impacts the fish and the energy it expends, if your flow is turbulent how can it keep its beer from spilling? Come on man, fish basics.....

So how would you run the hoses for best current?

This is my 450. The left side clean water goes into the tank. The right side dirty water goes into the filter. No chance of stagnant water.
I put the canisters up high so it's easy to change the filter. I'm old so bending over doesn't make sense anymore. Bonus is I I can drain the filter right into my drain that goes out to my yard. No buckets. Have a look at my 450 thread for more details :)

Point both outputs as to make the water do a circle, a circular motion is smooth and you can tell if ur outputs are correct, there's diagrams online, search laminar flow vs turbulent, and as stated above ^^ this will help crap blow and not settle till it gets sucked up.

Agreed. As long as the outputs do not cross paths and create turbulence ur good.
