Geophagus crassilabris

I haven't kept them but have kept wild red humps...and the males of those can be pretty rough on conspecifics as well.

I think that they get about 7-8" eventually.

I'd start with 5 of the little ones...and remove extra males before bloodshed. Hopefully you'll end up with a 1M/3-4F harem and lots of breeding :)

Leave it to oddball to show way nicer colors on them than anything I found.
but their bottom lips..? put one of them on the end of a stick, & I could shovel snow..

Yeah, and the big boy is one of my favorites. They are definitely Eartheaters on steroids! :headbang2

They must be keeping them over at the Exchange, I was in today and didn't see them. I decided against getting any today, not because of the price (although that is certainly a factor) as much as the fact they are 1" and I don't have a tank to put them in without filling another tank.

I ended up getting a Heros iniridae and a couple gold severums for my community, the wife wanted "something yellow or peachy"... :nilly:

I plan to get some crassilabris sometime soon if Justin doesn't buy them all up, but right now I have too much going on - just bought a spanking new 125 that I need to set up.

I only bought 8. There are 4 left at store and I'm sure plenty more where those came from. I figure with 8 I have a pretty solid shot at getting a harem going.

I chickened out. Not that I was afraid of the fish, but afraid of what my wife would do if I blew the cash. As a teacher, having summers off rocks, but waiting until September 25th to get paid after three months of no paychecks gets a little rough...

Once yours start pumping out fry (which I am sure they will) I will definitely like to add a male to my community!
