Yes the tank will have a sand substrate, and a good quantity of driftwood, of course!! No plants tho, especially if I go with the uaru...
So lets say in 2-3 years I get bored of the peaceful SA theme and Henward finally convinces me to get another asian aro, how would the same filter handle large messy predators like aro, dats, big ornate bichirs, or a big community of CA cichlids, midas, festae, texas, oscars, jags etc? Although I'm planning fairly modest stock levels for now I would like to future-proof it if possible, I have been known to be indesisive at the best of times !
Backwashing twice a week doesn't sound like much trouble, compared to cleaning filter socks every three days on my old set up. As long as we don't start running out of water over summer! And the simplicity of a closed loop system would be great. I need to get on the Wlim site and do some more reading and research, shame I'm off to work now, damn night shifts!!
