Help!!!! First time resealing a tank!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well all I can say is to clean the glass on each side of the seam. Then cover the whole thing from with enought silicon to overlap the seam and glass on each side... wait 36hrs then do a fill test.

Okay, I will try that thanks. Do you think that will make a tight seal?

I would run the silicon out to the red line I put on the photo for the bottom... and I would have it go up at least half-way up the trim on the sides of the tank. It does not have to be neat because its the bottom... don't skimp on the amount. Make sure the glass is clean so you get good adhesion.SANY0037.JPG

Okay thanks for the advice. I guess I should buy an extra tube of silicone.

Hello; Here is a link to a video that may be helpful in sealing a leak

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKactsdPpO8&feature=channel_video_title

That is one of the videos I watched. I have all the equipment that he has in the video. For some reason my bottom is constructed differently than the one on the video. His on the video is setup like most tanks where the sides and the bottom meet in the corner, my bottom pane doesn't meet the side panes, instead there is silicone wedged in between the bottom and the sides.
