Hey everyone just thought I'd share my geophagus aff. Argyrostictus 'araguaia' that I received by mistake when I ordered a group of wild Brazilian geos. I looked online and can't seem to find any info on these guys and the one pics on google is a pic from Thomas weidners south American eartheaters book and pics from our fellow member on the forum GT3000. So I'm guessing these guys are pretty rare in the hobby lol.

Well my guys is about 3-3.5" right now. He has a dark body tone to him with lots of green and blues coming through will red fins. And the most interesting trait he hold (one that my camera can not capture quite well) is he has a pinkish/ purple head like a red head tapajos has.
But he is eating anything I throw in the tank and is SUPER aggressive already. What will these guys look like as adults? I guess only time will tell us :)

enjoy guys.

Hi my friend' first of all congrats!
Exactly like you, I received mine by mistake too when I ordered a group of wild Brazilian geos.
After a few months I had another one, but the older killed him after only 3 weeks.

A few tips:
1. This geo is super aggressive, can attack and kill much bigger fish for no reason, just for his sadistic fun.
2. Eats anything, I never saw him dislike food.
3. Never seen in stocklists, very very rare. I am the only one in Israel who has this lovely fish.
4. Mine grew to a 6", I think it's the maximum size, but I'm not sure.
5. Goos luck with it, you'll enjoy very much.

Thank you my friend! yes I agree with everything you said, very very rare, I might be the only one with this fish in the US, he does eat everything I toss in the tank, and yes super aggressive, but I only notcied this aggression with other geos and sometimes he picks on my retros. but I have a green severum and a guianacara in there that chase him around a lot, its very interesting.

mine is only about 5", so we will see with in the next year or so to see if any of ours get bigger then 6" :) glad im not the only one with this fish. He is very special and beautiful!
