so dorado has a slower growth rate than other monsters?

Pretty much the same growth rate as peacock bass from what I've seen. They eat in spurts though, and the growth has really slowed now since he hit the 12 inch mark. He may grow fast/bigger in a larger tank since I have him in a 220 wide and he NEVER stops swimming....I have never had a baby but if I go small I'll definitely have to find a tiny dorado to grow out and see what the growth rate is like at that size....I love this fish though, so underrated.

unfortunately i have the tank, but empty... need to save money to set it up perfectly so probably wont happen for a few months... kinda sucks cause i'm dying to get it going, but no money to do it right, so i'm gonna wait

I have a 6" dorado growing in a 75 right now. I have 2 aggressive cichla in a 200 with a tarpon that are all larger than the dorado. The cichla and tarpon are about 7inches.

im trying to put my dorado in the 200gal with the other fish but i attempted to put an upside down catfish in with the dorado about 2 months ago and it did not go too well. the catfish would get attacked and nipped pretty frequently causing some scars. Since you have experience with cichla and a dorado in the same tank do you thing the aggression will not be as much of a problem because the cichla wont follow to dorado like the catfish did?

Definitly wait and set it up right man.... from what i've seen your doing okay with tank space as of now. It will surely be my favorite tank on mfk once its up and running...your stock kicks serious ass dude.

Definitly put them together. the dorado should actually school with the tarpon (add current if you don't have it already....the heavier the better for the dorado) The bass should fight back enough where after the first few days they won't even notice the dorado's harassing...in the first few however they will probably run from the dorado a lot and it could look ugly, but all will get better. Make sure they all get food and maybe add another tarpon or dorado so they can really school properly....good luck!

Also a 6 inch dorado probably won't do much longer in a 75 gal since they move so much... but idk maybe they aren't as active until they get a little bigger.

That is one seriously boss looking fish. Dayum!

Thanks man....you don't see many of them around at this size (or at least I haven't). Dorado's are the bees knees dude. I'd totally suggest one but I see you have an ATF and although member djaalix has got it to work, its a highly unadvisable combination. Your Goliath is one of the better ones on MFK by the way IMO.

THanks man! That just made my day! :nilly:

I would love a Dorado, but I'm well aware that they normally don't work with tiger fish. What a shame! They are amazing fish! Had I discovered them before I discovered atf, I might have one of those instead. lol
