I'm thinking of redoing my tank bottom from a mix of common sand and fine white gravel (with a few dark ones, not pure) to black fine sand. It's a 250 gallon tank with cichlids. I love the white gravel coz it makes my tank look brighter but I hate it for trapping too much waste material. The common white sand mixed with it makes it look unpleasant too. Before, when I just have sand, it is a lot easier to clean but vacuuming is such a hassle coz by the time I finish, about a pound of the sand is already siphoned out. Guys, if I were you, which one would you choose? Or maybe you can convince me with your current setup? Post pictures if you like. Here's one picture that I can find (ignore the clown knife)...
