Not really upset over it. It was a neon. A $1 fish. I wish it didn't have to be fish food, but nature happens. The others will be saved tomorrow afternoon. I think I am going to scratch the firemouth idea and go with one of the more, peaceful cichlid set ups I can.
1 blue acara
2 geophagus tapajos
3-4 Bolivian rams
6 angelicus loaches
1 Siamese algae eater
10 Dennison barbs
The geos and the acara get to be about 6 inches, but are usually peacefully for cichlids. The Bolivians may breed, but they are small and I doubt they will cause any problems. If so, I will let them have the 20 gallon to themselves.

My breeding Geos are not as aggressive as breeding severums. They will chase but not much else. They would probably be more aggressive toward their own kind than their other tankmates. The larger, more aggressive Geos may be bad, but I don't think it'd be a problem with orange heads. Besides, my geos won't settle down and breed in a community tank if there's too much activity, so you may not have to worry about that at all. It really depends on how comfortable they feel with their surroundings.
Also, geos are mouthbrooders, so they're not as aggressive when carrying their fry around as severums are when they're trying to defend a free-swimming ball of fry. That's not to say that Geos can't be nasty; I'm sure there are exceptions. A lot of people here have kept orange heads as community fish and rarely do you see posts about them terrorizing a tank.
