2 YEARS? Maybe get it on shrimp than pellets. Im amazed its still at 1", take this as a lesson that BW is bad for growth with Datnoids

Just go buy another one. Problem solved.

If you want to still try, feed a variety, such as LIVE blackworms, tiny flakes of raw salmon, feeder guppies etc.

At the same time, do a 20-30% water change at least once a week. Some juvie fish release growth inhibiting hormones into the water, as a survival of the fittest type of mechanism. Not sure if Dats are the same, but that's where the frequent water changes will help.

Goldies contain those same growth inhibiting hormones....

Basically MrBw just do the opposite of what you did the 1st time.

Didn't you read that his dat won't eat NLS pellets? Most baby dats or pbass won't even look at pellets. Raw shrimp pieces would be best to put some size on this small size of dats.

It's too late at this time. The only way IMO now to stimulate the fish's diet for it to eat again hopefully is by using rosies or minnows. Apparently you didn't get what I meant by "clean/healthy feeders".

What is your advice to the OP about his situation?

What are you talking about? Nowhere did I mention goldies.

He also thought I was talking about goldies when I said "clean/healthy feeders"...

You guys crack me up lol. I have piranhas, you think they wanted pellets too? You do what's best for your fish, and if you can't provide it anything but FEEDERS Atleast breed your own cons and gut load them!

I'm just trying to offer advice and spread the word you DO NOT need feeders, a lot of people think their essential, which, yes some fish can benefit from them, But for being almost 2 years and not growing past an inch is very obvious.

If you like watching your fish eat live fish then good for you...I like watching mine eat pellets/fillets and knowing their have the best diet possible atm!......

I wasn't targeting you guys, it was prevention, get your fish on a healthy diet early, you'll be doing them a favor, IME its easiest when you start from the day you get them, unless their babies.

I know, I was agreeing with you, and stating they contain the same thing your talking about. I know you and I know your fish are well maintained!

Long story short, you just have to accept that its stunted. Either get a be one or just let him be.

If its within your capacity then let him loose in a bigger tank and see the result. If he still doesnt grow them he's probably gonna be like that forever.

Even for bigger fishes I feed them once a day. And give him live minnows if you can get them or better yet breed your own guppies or swordtails. Fast breeders and gives 'em good exercise while hunting
