Cutteri "Rio Jutiapa" pair progression

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats a good sign!

How is the growth rate on these guys once they're a pair? Is it similar to other cryptos where once they start spawning their growth is slowed because most of their energy is spent spawning?

I would assume so. My female seems small but the male seems bigger than what I expected him to be. Here is a picture of them from a few minutes ago. They are so cool! How are yours doing with the fry?

Awesome.

Mine were doing well until today, I came home to find the male (who had recently gone pale like the female, non-breeding dress) had beaten the pulp out of the female and she was hiding in the corner... He looked great, so I separated her in a breeding box hidden behind a rock so he won't see her as often and can't harass her. Once he calms down and she recovers I'll release her.

Ps - I have a female cutteri that I had attempted to "cull" in my 55 by giving my oscar a small treat... Well she has been allowed to live in the 55 and is thriving. I'll try to get some pics of her later.

How long do you think until I should let her back out? Till she fully heals or longer?

Also, all the remaining fry have been eaten

Bummer on the fry getting eaten. Is let her back out when she seems strong enough to put up with the males advances :)

Update on the male, they haven't bred since october but he has allowed her to live without much of any abuse.

I also have added some duckweed from a buddy of mine. The danios love to eat it and the rest of the fish enjoy hanging out under it
