Very nice!

Do you have blue gravel? It looks like there is a blue reflection below the fish. Also, is the background actually black or does that have to do with the flash? I've tried doing that but I can't seem to get the pure black.

The blue reflection is a mixture of bounce light from the tank itself and also the way the Jack can change his color. Often he will display a lot of reddish/orange to his underside as well. Other times he displays a more silver, white underside which seems to magnify the blue tint in images. Apart from maybe festae, I can't say I have seen a fish display so much variation in color. As for the black background? It is easy to obtain in this tank as it 4' from front to back. The cameras setting will only pick up the light source from the remote overhead flashes which are much more powerful than the tank lights. 3 flash units were used for this shot. As they were only lighting up the front half of the tank, the background is not visible in the image. ;)

Awesome shot.

Great shot! Do you have a tank setup for shooting? Any tips for shooting fish?
I have like 18+ tanks and some of them are hard to get enough lighting etc. Black background is always best I assume.
