ive been testing cast reloads and i cant seem to get any better then 2.5 inch groups at only 20 feet. at 40 feet they open up to about 5.5 inches. i have not been shooting factory or jacketed in quite some time, so i dont really have a base line control. im still in testing and still have many things to try out but what do you consider as accurate?

im talking about pistols. i mainly shoot pistols. p95 9mm and m&p 40.

As long as they go bang everytime and no problems with fte those groupings are just fine for self defense purposes. The only time you really need more accuracy would be for competition shooting. Those groupings sizes are my normal with factory ammo since I only shoot around 6 times a year.

Those groupings are pretty accurate IMO considering your platform.

Yeah those groups are adequate for 9mm or 40S&W at those ranges. Have you chronographed the loads? If not I suggest doing so as it can give you a decent idea if you can bump the power up a bit, which can shave some off your group at longer ranges. If I may ask what powder, Primer and grain bullets are you loading?

Guns are bad. Only people who really need them should be allowed to have them, for example street-corner thugs.

How many shots in the group? When I shoot pistol, I run a 5 shot group. I shoot a Glock 30, Browning High Power .40, and a Springfield 1911 A1. At 20' if I'm not cutting at least a couple holes, I'm no happy. Have you cleaned the barrel lately. Shooting cast bullets can foul the barrel with lead and you will need a lead removing cleaner. The gun should shoot tighter than 2.5" at 20'. Put it on a bench and fire 5 shots at the EXACT same spot then check your group.

i go more than 6 times a year. many, but its mostly for fun. i should test out some factory ammo to set a base line. im just not sure if my reloads are the problem or is it me. in "real world" sd scenarios those would work i guess.

9mm- unique 3.9 grains, 125 grain lrn cast, wolf srp
40sw- unique 4.9 grains. 175 grain tc cast, wolf srp

i do agree that guns are bad. im currently testing out my blank lords weapons as we plan on have a territory war real soon with the blanks. the more you have the more terrible you are. im SUPER terrible.

my groups are actually 15 round magazines. ive heard that was too much to use. i will try again with 3 and 5 to test next. im gonna try to rest the gun on my range bag as i do not have a ransom rest or anything like that.

ill report back.

guns are the down fall of america. every one in this thread should be ashamed. these weapons are the reason that we have crime and all the murders everyday. bunch of gangster terrorist. i really dont appreciate all this on a family fish forum.

Idiot people are the downfall of America--not guns. Sorry rwellbaum, but if somebody wants to murder somebody, the task can be accomplished with a ball-peen hammer just as easily.
Ever noticed how the crime rate in Arizona(among other states) and Switzerland are significantly low? It's because bad guys know the good guys are packing too.
In the lounge discussions such as firearms are allowed. If I were to open a thread on lawnmower blades that would be accepted and you probably wouldn't have an issue with it. Yet a murderer could kill using a lawnmower blade, could he not?
