All tanks when I look from the side seem to have a mirror effect on the back of the tank. Is there a way to prevent this? eg painting the back of the tank?

Where my tank is positioned 45deg from my sofa it looks very odd as half the tank has the background colour the other half (visible through the side pane) is like a mirror.

Any ideas??

Paint it. It could just be the angle your looking at it from.

that drives me crazy. I spent a ton of time getting a tank to look busy enough, and all my puffers do is chase their reflection.

I dont think that the fish are chasing the reflection, I think they are just trying to go further than the tank allows. Unless the tank is very bright and the room is dark, the glass should be transparent to the fish, just as it to us. Thats just my opinion.

when I view the tank from the front panel I actually see the fishes reflection in the side panel. It sucks because I want to be able to view the tank from all 3 sides, so painting isn't an option. but you are right in the fact that the room is often dark when the tank is lit. So I am sure that that is a factor.

I can't paint the sides as like I said I view the tank at a 45 degree angle from my sofa so I wouldn't see anything.

I have a black background on teh back anyway, but will paint get rid of this mirror effect?
