I ordered a 90 degree slip hose barb (from Marine Depo). it looks either black or gray in color (I don't think its PVC). So my question is can I glue this to my PVC using PVC cement or do I need something else?

Thanks

I believe that grey fitting is PVC.

I would call Marine Depot to find out what it is made out of and use the appropriate cement/glue or order a threaded fitting.

The worst that could happen is not a pretty picture and could cost you a lot more than a $2.29 barbed fitting.

I contacted marine depot today via email and phone call. Both times I was told that I should use PVC cement and that the fitting was PVC. I still don't know if i believe that. Maybe I'll just use the multipurpose cement to me on the safe side.

Your thoughts?

PVC cement will work. When glueing the fittings, you need to give it a 1/4 to 1/2 turn while pushing it in with glue. PVC cement will work on ABS but you CAN'T use ABS cement on PVC because it doesn't melt the PVC fast enough to bond the 2 parts together. It will eventually separate. Good Luck.
