Very difficult to tell from the photos. If I was forced into a guess, I go for male, due to the body shape.
I didn't know how u guess it with body shape, but the main thing i known is squiggles between the eyes...
Well with many cichlids, females will be more rotund with round fins while their male counterpart will be longer bodied and sometimes taller bodied. But it really depends what youre talking about specifically, with severums once its acclimated if it doesnt have any facial markings and it looks pretty plump youve got yourself a female. Could always vent it too, theres many threads on here showing how.
This is not always true. Here is a known female in my group, I know its females because she's been laying eggs every two weeks.
