hey all,
ive had aquariums before - a brackish 30 gallon tank with 2 green spotted puffers, and i am going buy a new 100 gallon tank. i have no idea what to do for this tank but i want some sort of predatory fish. i am not that interested in cichlids. i am open to any ideas. thanks guys!!!

i was thinking of possibly a snakehead, or another type of puffer? whats the best i can do with 100 gallons

I see you'really in Boston so snakeheads are illegal. You could have like 3-4 red tail payara? Only thing I could think of other then a cichlid. One datnoid?

Well snakeheads are illegal in the states. Far as puffers if you want freshwater a puffer fakaha would be best, but may need bigger tank when full grown. You could always look into a wolffish the common mala would work well. Also, if they are legal in your area, piranhas. There are many species of P's that would go good in your tank.

they seem like pretty good options but i think the payara grow pretty large.....i think i could get my hands on a snakehead in bostons chinatown if i really wanted but im not sure

I wouldn't say that on here. Feds check this place out or something like that. Also the red tails are a smaller genius of payara. Maxing about 12" in home aquaria.

Wolf fish are wesome during feeding time. But they are pretty lazy sometimes.

This is very true. My mala is awesome but spends most of the day hiding and only comes out at night or to feed. IMHO if you want a very active, owner responsive fish youll be alot happier with the puffer.
