why does every new fish never want to eat?

I swear I have the worst luck when it comes to getting newly acquired fish to start eating. I will always ask lfs employees to feed the fish im about to purchase to make sure they are eating well. I buy, bring it home, feed it exactly what the lfs does, and they never eat. It always takes me at least a week to break any fish (no matter the species). Maybe I just keep picking out stubborn fish lol

Anyone else have these issues?
 
Iv had good results useing the garlic soaks with my morays food, never thought to try it with the fw fish. I assumed pellets would get too soggy and fall apart in the current.
 
Depends on the fish in my experience. I'm on week 2 with my lyonsi and only have seen him take a few pellets. Just brought home a purple rose queen and it was eating within 3 hours.

I had this problem with the male in my carpintis pair, he did not eat for three days. Then I went back to the store to see what they were feeding him (NLS pellets) I bought 6mm on my own but he was eating 3mm at that point, bought the 3's and he ate. He ate the next morning, then today him and the female had night crawlers. I was so afraid he would not eat and die on me but luckily he did!

No your good, I mean acclimation can vary between fish, but I've had luck on first day feedings by using a slow drip in their bag and offering flake a few hours later. Then its good to go from there. Depending on the conditions the fish came from can have a huge impact on its first few days with you!
