Tempered glass is glass that's been heated and cooled several times. I don't know what effect it has on tanks, probably resists bowing more. Tempered glass is also called Safety Glass, as when it breaks it does not leave jagged shards, but rather crumbles/explodes into infinite little peices... dunno what's supposed to be safer about that.

+1 if it so much as cracks . Its gunna shatter the whole panel of glass.
