I have a silver arowana who has been its scale protruding on the lower part of his stomach. It does not have any bloating. It is eating fine and is very active. It did have a sever case of fin rot but I treated him and now his fins are fine.

I also treated the water with tetra medication for bactieral infection but it's scales does not seem to get any better.

I've also realized that when I feed him now and watch him eat when he is eatting the gills opens really wide and it looks like it's disconnected and not attached to its body anymore. But when it isn't eating the gills look normal.

I also tested my water parameters everything is good. It is the only fish in my tank that is 20gallons. I know it is small for my arowana and will change once it starts getting bigger. I change the water 1x a week about 25% of the tank.

Please help me and any suggestions of what I could do to help my arowana. I'll try to post some picture of his scales and also when it eats to show you what is going on. I'd appericate all the help.

Same issue as me . But what I did was up water temp to 30 and add salt and not feed for 3 days and the scales start closing back already . Today just fed my aro with mp . And what I learn from other bros from other forum is that dropsy won't just appear as one scale on one side but it will be like popcorn like that . Just maintain good water parameter and the fish will be fine . Look after the water the fish will look after you and shows its beauty. For your case maybe the fish got spook and jump or hit something thus causing the scale to pop out . Maybe show us pic and we will know the problem
