Do You Have Any Irrational Fears?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Swimmimg in the ocean at night. I do it from time to time in the Keys because we have mask lenses and flashlights that make corals, anemones, shrimp and tons of stuff glow like an underwater rave, but it's a real exercise in facing my fear each time. The key for me is to focus on the ocean floor or any physical objects in front of me. Staring into the dark water makes me want to jump out of my skin.

All the standard stuff that most people hate is fine by me: spiders, snakes, crocodilians, stinging insects, etc: no problem at all and I've kept/handled all of them many times in my line of work. Bot flys are another story all together, though...

The government would be another one but that's really not irrational...

I'm pretty sure that I have a mild case of OCD. I will lock the door before I leave or the car and have to try to open it to make sure it's completely locked.

My first ever gf had an irrational fear of jello. Said it "jiggled too much". Why are you shaking your damn food...lay it on a table and eat it. Glad I'm not with her, lol.

I had an ex that would shower with her friend. A third friend told them they were gross until she saw them in the shower together and said it looked fun, then joined them.

The ex would just tell me they all had the same parts so why not?

I dont like dark water either. Even if it's just up to my waist. Just bothers me. I have forced myself to soften that fear a little by purposefully walking through low visibility water on aforementioned Turtle searching trips though. :P

When I was like 10 a friend told me that too. Needless to say I'm no longer friends with that fruit

I don't know, is ten that bad? I think I stopped showering with my brothers when I was like 5. But is 10 too old?

But then, I guess a little after 10 would start to not look right
