^Oops, that was suppose to read 'Maybe I read it wrong, but OP breed the best looking male EBJD of each gen with a normal JD female, yes? How does that produce EBJD fry?'
So OP, how did that work?
So OP, how did that work?
nice! Those are beautiful looking EBJD's! Keep us posted.
IMO, one true test of the EBJD's is to see what they look like at 6inches +. Many that attempt EBJD's never fully let the EBJD fully mature. Seen too many 3inch EBJD males breeding with 3inch JD females.
). My other male is a stunner at 5" but needs to grow up a little before I start pairing him off with a female BGJD. It is really important, especially when breeding for non-deformed EBJDs, to wait until the fish is mature. That way you know exactly what you have to work with!Maybe I read it wrong, but you breed the best looking male EBJD of each gen with a normal JD female, yes? How does that produce EBJD fry?
Nice ebjd, particularly pics 2 and 4 as it has more gold and not a beak like the other one has. I wouldnt pay more than 50-60 for that one but he is free of deformities.

That rule of Mendelian genetic probability doesn't always apply. You get fewer blue but you still get them. You may rarely not get any if the few don't make it but you do get some. And sometimes you even get gold dempseys.. so how would you explain that?
Although come I think of it there's not really a way for me to be 100% sure the females had no blue gene at all since I don't know what previous batch the parents came from. I can only assure you that I got them from a regular "looking" JD male with regular "looking" JD female.
They do look amazing my pocket would nt be shy if I was buying any of them . I love ebjds .
