Would i need to get a male and female? or would two of the same sex get along? Sorry i dont know much about these guys il go look into them more tho. Thank you guys!
You would probably like watching the fish raise the babies and lay eggs. You can tell if a convict cichlid is a male or female. The females have a redish belly and the males have a less red or no redish on the belley and males have a little blue on there fins.

I've bred kribensis cichlids and to me they seem the perfect cichlid. They're small, colourful, and are tough as nails! It would also allow you to keep a few smaller fishes. If you're breeding cichlids you should make sure you have a market for the babies which more than likely wouldn't be a problem with the kribs.

Wow those are very cool looking and my mom loves the colors! Dont know how I didnt find these when I was searching. Definatly putting those at the top of the list of possibilities. Im gonna do my own searching but since you have kept em before recommend any tank mates or how many of these guys is a good number to keep?

I kept a pair in a standar 20 gallon with some tetras and a small angelfish. Sometimes I noticed that the angel or tetras had ripped fins but nothing major. I'd think that in a 40 gallon breeder you might be able to have a pair of kribs and a pair of rams. You might want to ask around on this one though. Good luck!
