Despite power being out in some parts and damage to the city from the storm,Mayor Bloomberg says that the show,or race, must go on....

I don't see why not if they got streets or roads to run on.

Plus it'll be good for the people, something positive will be refreshing

Good points. Some are complaining that the money spent on the marathon should be used for the storm cleanup.I understand the race is a huge revenue source for the city.

I disagree with all of you above. They are still finding dead bodies in the city. Many places are without electrical power, food and water. Emergency personnel and police will have to be diverted from storm related duties to supervise the race. Although the race has a $350 million economic impact to the city, the right thing to do would have been to postpone it to a future date.

the competitors who are still able to show up could set some new records, with all the rats nipping at their heels.

I think it's great, showing that the storm won't stop the city from moving on
This^^

Sometimes you just have to go on. There are a lot of people that need to find a bit of hope and a ton of normality right now. I say give them a chance to step away from the nightmare for a bit and go for a run.
