so yeah im a fool and didnt get a generator in time and my big boy died... stuck him in the freezer at a friends house who had power in the next town. does any one know of a taxidermist who is good with keeping the original fish and not making a replica thnx ?

His was a baby that he preserved in a small jar with isopro...(can't spell the rest) basicly 90+% rubbing alcohol. A taxidermist will cost min $300. Id suggest googleing a diy method like F1. Send him a pm, he might have some good advice for you.

Pretty sure it's isopropyl

Yea I used isopropyl but any alcohol over 40%+ works, maybe not as good. Make sure the jar is airtight as well, I used a little sand substrate on the bottom as well.

Very easy to do! Longer he is the freezer the more it will deteriorate!

Sorry for you loss!

This. And I would if you could get a 2 foot long low glass bin, or make one. Fill it with isopropyl and then put your fish in there. Just a thought. Of course you'd need a lid. So basically a fully sealed tank. But it needs to be accessible. Pretty sure the isopropyl needs to be changed. Or you can get it done at a taxidermist. I personally don't like mounted fish. They look shiny and very fake.
