Hello, I am looking for some suggestions on what type of plants would be best for nitrate reduction. I am adding a little 10 gallon sump on to my 240 gallon. This tank has 2 fx5 filters that keep it at zero amonia, zero nitrites, but has high nitrates do to lack of water changes.
What I had in mind originaly was just a 10 gallon sump with many seperators and heavy lighting to support massive algae growth. Just the same type that naturally occurs in the tank.
However I am open to suggestions on any other plants or ideas for nitrate reduction. I am aware water changes are a great solution, but I need no counsil on water changes as this is going to be a fun little project to see if I can naturally reduce the nitrates.
I will say that the lighting is a 24" T-5 high output 4 bulb with 2 10k's and 2 actinic. Average Temp of Tank is 85 Degrees. No co2 will be used to enrich plant growth what so ever. I will use no chemicals or nitratesorb type products.
Thanks!
