So was just on groupons and saw a deal for admission to "Portland aquarium".

My first thought was when did we get an aquarium? The map showed it in milwaukee. That lead to

My second thought was I worked in Milwaukee for a couple of years? Where was there an aquarium!?!?

Then I saw the disclaimer: opens dec 1st

So....thoughts? Had you heard of this? Know any insider info on stock? Going?

I got a job there as an "aquarist"...not quite what I had in mind with a Fisheries degree but it's full time salaried work; and I'm looking at 3-5 more years of seasonal work in Fisheries until I can get to that. It used to be a restaurant so it's fairly small (12,000sq ft I think?), but they've got the ability for expansion.

I'll be up there tomorrow and I'll see if I'm allowed to snap some photos. If you want more info the Facebook page has the most I think...
 
Sweet news I am excited to see it. I know what you mean Jamie about the temp work thing. I ended up doing something totally different, because a family and all those temp summers just wouldn't jive.

i'm surprised you hadn't given us a heads up on this Dan. i get no portland news this far south. if not for switching from eugene to portland on groupon i might still be in the dark.

i'm pretty stoked to check it out though
 
It will be an adventure for sure. I'm already feeling pretty handicapped as it's mostly saltwater, and I'm definitely lacking in the saltwater knowledge. Unfortunately their salmon tank was axed, but there will be some freshwater. I should be able to give some more insight later today...

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised I hadn't heard of this. I already got the go-ahead from my principal for a field-trip, so I'll be taking my class there in January or February.:headbang2 I'm hoping to check it out ahead of time, probably over Christmas break.
