Hi guys. I just got my armatus to calm down recently from all the rubbing against the tank glass. Now the the outcome is quite gruesome. My armatus rubbed flats it top tip of it's nose.
As all of you payara keeper know, all payara have a curved pointyish nose that is longer than the bottom part of the mouth. Now the top nose is now a bit blunt and it now a wee bit shorter than the bottom part of the mouth. The rubbed part used to white from all the rubbing but now after a week of salt, the rubbed part is a bit darkish.

Will the blunt nose ever grow back to normal? any experiences? medication?

answers ASAP?

thanks

it's just the tip of it's nose. I'm wondering if the nose will grow back when the fish grows.

I'll try to post them tommorrow. At an angle, the nose seems fine, but when you look at the fish exactly sideways with no slant, you can clearly see that the nose is a bit blunt. Just a slight bit.

Wait til you have to capture your armatus with a net and have to move it for some reason..They really freak out and damage themselves when disturbed and mine has injured its snout several times over the years. One time it looked as if the snout was worn away done to the bone.Your fish should heal like normal as long as you keep the water clean.

imo, hit or miss.. may never "grow" back.. but should heal just fine. like getting a broken nose... never heals up exactly like before. or since he's stopped rubbing it may heal up and push back out to normal.

Did that "worn away right to the bone" literal? Did the nose of yours heal back perfectly? How long did it take?
