Hi guys, Im rehoming?selling my cats and was wondering what you guys think i should be charging for them. I bought them all as baby's except for a black pacu (thats another thread) They are 2 marbled pims 1 12inch and 1 16 inch, a 10 inch common bacu, 2 iredesent charks both 12 inch(one of them is albino), a tiger shovelnose also about 12-13 inch. There is also a black pacu about 18 inch. (sorry i know he's not a bottom dweller but he is in the tank). What should i be asking for these guys? I know to make sure they are going to extra large tanks. They are already to big for most. Hopeing i find someine with indoor pond. lol.

Beautiful cats. You're right for the most part. Trying to rehome such large catfish is very tough. Especially if you are trying to find someone with an adequate tank for them. Luckily you are in NY it looks like and with a population bigger than a lot of countries I'd say you have pretty good chances. Don't price so high that you will scare of someone with an adequate tank. TSN are so cheap as babies, IDs also that I'm not sure what you could ask for it. Put an ad up on the buy and sell section of MFK and post it as Pick up only status if you are not willing to ship. Post the prices where you think they should be but also state or best offer OBO. This will get you some responses at least. If I were closer than the 1900 mile gap we have I'd try to work out something with ya. Marble and bacu are stunning!!! THeir worth is up in the air though. It's really just in how fast you wish to sell them, and what someone is willing to pay. You might have to set a price and be willing to negotiate. Most people will not buy large tsn since they can get babies so cheap. Same with IDs. You might be able to easily sell the bacu and marbles though. :) hard to put a price on these fish for me though. I'd say go cheap on the ID and tsn at least.

Ya i fugured not to much on the ird and tsn. I am just hopeing to find homes big enough. I know its crazy but i love my cats and it is going to really suck to get rid of them but i need to make room in my office. I have another secretary starting in a couple weeks so i need the room for her desk. 220 gal tank takes up a lot of room. Aspecially with a 180 gal on the other side of the room. lol

I ran a large fish rescue in Rochester NY for a few years. There are lots of enthusiasts in upstate NY that at least you have a chance. I agree with all Necrocanis has said. The fish are at the smallish size that some LFSs will consider taking them in as trade-ins - they will give you 1/3 of the price they will try to sell them at. I can tell you which ones around Buffalo, Siracuse, and Albany. Sounds like you are pressed for time. I think you will be very lucky to find a right home for free in that amount of time... not that luck does not vary. Or an LFS. If you had lots of time, I think the Sailfin marble cat and the Pterodoras granulosa could fetch $50 each, give or take. Pacus, TSN, IDS - I'd not ask for (much).

If you drive them to Montana I will buy them for $100 total! :)

Sorry, yours is not a sailfin (Leairius pictus), no saddle shoulder mark, just a marmoratus, I think. Very attractive pattern, I must mention though.

If you drive them to Montana I will buy them for $100 total! :)

I think I can upstage Necrocanis - if you drive them to SW FL you can have a vacation and stay at my place (future Public Aquarium) for free in return (if you are well-behaved) :)

But seriously, I feel your pain of having to part with them and wish you much luck!
