Still Don't Understand FX5 Mania?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know you say the truth on that bio aspect.
do you think I'm overdoing my tank canister(s)?. Although any overdone things (via holiday sales) is planning for some media transfer to next tank cans. some light seeding dispersed through it 'should' give a better start than nothing and there'll be plenty left for continued growth in 'robbed' tank canisters. that's what I hope anyhow. + I'd like good flow.

2x fx5 and 1x 2262? Wow that's a lot of gph, I mean personally id go 1x 2262 & 1x FX5! Or just 2x FX5 (1 for bio & 1 for polishing)

*Go S. Vettel #1 RBR! 3 BACK TO BACK WDC AND CONSTRUCTERS!

I have 3 FX5's.. 2 in my 475 and one in my 180. Have a Rena xp3 in a 135, but had to add an Aquaclear 70 to keep it as clean as my FX5 tanks. Any Eheim I ever owned leaked eventually, although did a good job.
you mean O rings needed replacing?

NOOOoo, did I make a typo before?
I ordered one 2262, and my finger is hovering over one fx5. so it'd be the way you said: one for bio and one for polishing on the 180G.
these sales are the bomb.
I got an E 2217 that could be used for polishing if fx5 is overkill flow. that could go in the 75G for polishing. that 75 seaclearII has back compartments.

(I have room for another tank in here. I'd look for used deal)

1x FX5 & 2262 is going to be a rad and effective combo! So freaking jealous! You'll be happy with both, do a thread on the ease or hardships of setting each up, time involved etc. That would give people a more in depth perspective of each unit!

Congrats

this is why I stick to hob's and sponge filters...cans ARE nice some are even economical to run......but consider this...6 tanks aprox. 360 gallons run on NOTHING BUT ....hob's and sponge filters and at a total cost of about $360 ....and all the tanks are OVERFILTERED AND easy to maintain ... try that with canisters ...then think about the level of maintainence required to just get an fx5 to the sink (or outside )and clean (anybody for weightlifting....)no such need on an ac 70 ...but plenty of bio to support a good sized tank when coupled with a sponge filter...not ripping on canister owners but trying to give OTHER OPTIONS to those inclined not to pay for "packaging" and who want more real world performance:)

hahaha if you cant lift a fx5 when it full you should maybe find another hobby, or at least make it pump out half or less of the water before cleaning it out :screwy:

Thanks F1.
I might not be the best example of what "the ease or hardships of setting each up, time involved etc" really are compared to you guys here. LOL.
The fx5 should be easy on setup. The eheim :-/ assembly might bring on a meltdown.

:-O
