How do you pronounce Synodontis?

I'm pretty sure that's right. Granted I say parakeet (pair-O-kEEt) and chocolate (chalk-O-lit)

Honestly I have no idea. The only person I try to pronounce it in front of is my Fiance and it usually ends differently every time...

But I went to HighSchool in Oklahoma... There everything equals purple...

Lol. When I tell my wife the names of my fish, that one in my avatar is a sign-no-don-tis yoop-tear-us.

yup, its Latin. you could just look up some basic latin pronounciation, thats What I did so I can say the scientific names when ordering without sounding stupid.
