Hi, on Sunday I'm getting a banjo, I need to know what these eat, do I buy food specially for him, do they eat algae wafers, and do they swallow food whole, or bite chunks, basically I need to know what food is suitable for a 2-3 inch banjo :)

Once the banjo catfish starts eating, feeding it shouldn't be a worry. They will eat just about anything that sinks to the bottom, and they use very little energy so they don't need to consume very much. However, some banjo catfish are starved when you get them from a lfs, and may be difficult to feed at first, especially because they may only feed at night/in the dark until they are settled in. If the banjo won't take pellets yet, you might try getting to feed with some live/frozen food. They love live blackworms, bloodworms work too. I'm not sure if algae wafers are a good food source for them as they may be mostly carnivorous. They swallow food whole. Any smallish sinking pellet should be fine.

Mine ate from day one. Been feeding them a mix of the small sinking disks, and blood worms. They will even sometimes come out with lights on to eat the blood worms, these are the frozen blood worms. Mine have doubled in length in the month I've had them. :) good luck. agree with what pudgeking says also

I already feed bloodworms, I'll pick up some catfish pellets while I'm there, I might even pick up the featherfin and upside down catfish ;)
