Mixing Piranhas with others

If they are selling it for $20 at your lfs, I'm 99% percent confident that it is a rbPacu. Pacus and oscars just seem lame to me imo...

If it weren't for pacu their might not even be red belly Piranha, juvies in the wild basically rely on pacu for fin protein. I like both because in the wild they cohab.

Either way not a good idea for a community rbp tank....unless you like cruelty and dead, half eaten fish


Just get rid of all your fish, buy 8 or so 1" rbp from aquascape and you'll have a great shoal!

Unless you have a pond forget Pacus. They need to stop selling them already. Ridiculous to think a tank less than 300 gallons is big enough for even one Pacu by itself.

Also probably is a pacu as a red belly piranha would not reach 10 inches in less than optimal conditions which I'm confident exist at the LFS.

Dude I have a pond and I got tricked into buying a pacu.... Worst fish ever he will try and eat any and every fish in your tank if you want a pacu go with a pacu only tank. He ate fins off my knife fish,gar, and hoplo cat. I hate my pacu thats why on sunday hes going away lol.

I see a lot of adult piranhas traded in at lfs, people seem to get bored with then when their old. Sad. I'm guessing this is the case. Who knows, very very easy to tell them apart tho.

I would steer away from that fish if I were you and I would stay away from this guy at the lfs...he might tricking you to buy the pacu.

No trickery. You don't sell a 10" Piranha for $20, that would be too good to be true.

It is definitely a Pacu, and it will do fine with the other fish in your tank.
