No, im not trolling.

They would all be in a planted 55 gal tank
1 4.5" Red Terror, 1 4" Jaguar, 1 4" Jack Dempsey and 1 3.5" Jack Dempsey

I'm wondering if with this sort of stocking the 4 fish could live together with an acceptable level of aggression.
They are all between 3 and 4" and i'm not sure of the sexes.

any advice or experience would be helpful

It could work as a grow out but not long term. Although the terror and jag might cause issues right now

Size of the tank is a poor option for those fish. The Jag alone will grow too large for a 55 gallon. Jags grow very quickly and are also territorial. So it wouldn't be long for a juvenile Jag to grow larger than its tankmates and claim the tank. Festae and Mayans share the name of Red Terror so I'm not sure which you have without your specification. Festae and Mayans also grow large, particularly males, and can be very aggressive. These fish are also diggers. Keeping a successfully planted tank will be very hard to accomplish in a crowded 55 gallon. Stick with a pair of JDs. Be aware that if the pair breeds their behavior will become more aggressive and territorial towards tankmates. You could add a couple of smaller cichlids with them, like a Firemouth or Convict. Robust schooling fish would probably work too. You would need a larger tank to increase the chances of keeping your current stock together long term.

The jag being a piscivore, will actively want to kill other fish. I would keep a jag with another jag in a 125 nothing less.

the jag was beating up on the Red Terror ( not sure if Festae and Mayan i got it at my LFS)
but all four fish in one tank is working for now.
I guess i need to find another tank and seperate them.
Thanks for the tips, i got the answer i expected.

You likley can't even keep a JD and a GT together. If you do, overstocking with med sized fish helps. you'll need to easily have 10x15 turnover for it to work. But you could keep a GT, JD, some cons', nics, firemouth, or acaras in a 55.

Not true. It really depends on the fishes attitude and tolerance of other cichlids. I've kept 4 gts and a jd pair in a 55 grow out with no problems. I only had 2x ac 70s witch would be a little over 2x overturned.

I believe the OP is talking long term. A growout tank is meant to be a temporary home for fish. There are many fish that can be kept together temporarily as juveniles. The fish mentioned by Cacichlids will also be hard to keep together long term due to possible breeding behavior and size of the largest fish. It's just so much easier and healthier to stock a tank with appropriate sized fish at correct numbers.

Festae and JAG will deff get too big but you can keep the green terror and jack dempsey, green terrors are not At all aggressive there as peacful as an Oscar
