INTRODUCING my BABY NEETS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Found this pic of a large male Neet.... approx 6" body length, which is a monster in terms of this species.

This male is in normal coloration but they go black with a white central bar during breeding.

Have you kept adult Neets ? Do they live up to the hype?

I've kept and bred them for a couple of years now.

When a pair breeds, pretty much everything else in the tank that's not MUCH bigger is history. Pretty much like cons. Maybe a little more aggressive.

They're prettiest when guarding the fry and are great parents (at least in my experience).

My pair is guarding about 60 or so 1/2" babies now.

Apparently they've been re-classified into the same group as Hypsophrys nicaraguenis and are now called Hypsophrys nematopus... I guess one can see the resemblance in the shape, but thats about it.

These Neets don't half grow in their early life...they're about an inch long now (body length) and I didn't realise they could get such nice colors aswell... They look like they're starting to shimmer green around the cheeks and fins. They must be from a more colorful strain than I kept all those years ago.

The breeder sent me these pics of the group my Neets came from.... you can see how nicely colored they are. I never realised they could have so much Emerald Green in their faces with a bit of samon pink in their bodies.

You can also make out their nasty orange teeth.
