Idea for a compact filter for a 500g tank

As i am starting to build a 500g tank i need to sort out the filter aswell, the problem is that all the room i have is in an outhouse of 5x4foot, access to this for the tank to filter will be through the house wall into the insulated room. I was going to do a 12g mechanical tank 150g sump.

But is there any other ideas i can look at for a more com pact setup as this will take up a fair bit of space in there.

Look into one of the smaller ultima canister filters. These have a backwash option that makes cleaning super easy

Ahhhh ok i get it. Okay for a diy set up your best bet is going the sump route. With sumps, the bigger the better good luck
