Thats a stunning big fire eel, you got lucky :)
 
Not sure if you know this or not, but make sure you don't have any openings on the tank, and if you do, try and cover them...

I lost my old 20"+ fire eel once when he decided to climb out the hole where the filter intake goes into the tank, first time i was lucky and found him pretty much right after he got out, then the 2nd time i wasn't so lucky and woke up to a dried up eel on the floor...
 
Very handsome guy/girl! hope my new lil' one has half as nice a pattern as that one does.

Been there before I lost a 32 incher the biggest and fattest one I've ever seen, he jumped out at night n I found him in the morning. Sucked so bad:( but this time no holes all openings closed n weighted down.
