I am looking to add a wet dry to my 300 just for bio filtering... I have 2 fx5s on my tank now which will end up being just mechanical filtering... So wat do u guys/gals think of this filter??? Or do u recommend any other filter....

DIY all the way!

kinda hard to do true diy if the tank is already running...

What's wrong with the two FX5s? Are you getting ammonia readings?

No my water readings are good its just my fish are getting bigger.. Basically just wanna get something going before the 2 fx5s cant handle the waste on their own....

Well, the largest one runs to $288 and you will need to add a pump...

For that price + a little more you know what I am going to recommend ;)

but in reality pending your stock adding one more fx5 would be more than you need...

My stock... I have about 17 bichir alone... Not including 6 dats a 20+" aro plus more......

I just want something to help with the bio load..... And i was thinking about adding another fx5 but dont u think a wet dry would help out 100x better just because it will hold ALOT MORE bio media?

According to others, you can do a DIY on the fx5 to double the biocapacity...that would be the cheap way to do it.

Or add a 2262, eheim. It has 3 times your fx5 biocapacity.

I don't think the wet dry model has 3x biocapacity of your fx5, especially if you don't spend more on bio filter material to fill rest of the chamber up.

I don't use a wet dry sump so others have to chime in on their effectiveness vs volume.
