Is there any way to sex juvenile Gold JDs? I've seen pictures of ones that were claimed to be females with the tell-tale blue beards that normal JD females have. Is that the case with Golds as well? My LFS has about a dozen Golds at about 2" and not one of them has a blue beard, but I find it hard to imagine that not one of them is female, unless the supplier removed all of them or someone came in before me and bought all of them. Anyone with experience know if all female Golds have a blue beard or any other way to tell?

In my experience it is hard to sex them when they are smaller. My gold female has a very distinct blue beard but she is 5" I have little gold grow outs that are about 1 1/2" and I can't sex them yet.
Yup gotta be patient
I just moved all mine from their 40 breeder to a 75 yesterday and took a close look at them but still couldn't tell if any have a blue beard yet.Sent from my SCH-I500 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App
Buy a dozen or so, grow them until you can determine which is a female and return the rest to the LFS
