If you're actually looking for a viable food source for large fish, sorry to say you won't get it out of a 10g. Even if you filled it to the top with shrimp, they won't breed as fast as your fish eat them. Your best bet is to fill a couple rubbermaids with dirt in your garage and culture worms. Red wigglers are easy and cheap. Not to mention even if you do breed shrimp, you still have to buy food for the shrimp. With worms, you simply scrape your dinner plate in the container every few nights. Not to mention worms are like 75% protein. Most bang for your buck.

This is atualy a pretty good idea. I may try this myself in the summer months lol too cold in ontario, and I don't think the wife would be too happy with me if I had some dirt boxes full of worms lol

Ha yea well I'm lucky my wife loves the fish as much as I do. Anyway, in the warmer months you can keep the boxes outside, and in the winter (I'm in new jersey), I just drag the boxes in the garage. If they don't freeze, you're good.

lol i live with my dad its just us two, so im sure he wont mind the bin in the basement afterall my basement is for my fishies:)

I'd suggest personally a high grade CRS and use the culls as food keeping your high grade sellable and profitable. Its what I do.
