Twin Titan Tanks Part 2 (Controls & mechanical)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So why have the two tanks butted up against each other? Why not have one giant tank? The setup is amazing by the way!

These tanks were shipped to Canada from Tenecor( in the USA), back when Tenecor was still a great product.
To build one gigantic acrylic tank was not possible because there is no one in my city that could do a build like that on site.
It would never fit in the house if built off site and then shipped to the house.
I checked out glass builds but they cost allot more and glass(for tanks this size) just weigh too much,
so I just butted up the tanks and tried to make it look like one tank.

Epic! Very nice! I can't wait to see Part __ with pix of these beauties stocked.

How do you clean algae off the panels that are butted up against one another?

the tanks are butted together but have a 3/8 inch gap between them.
to make sure no splashed water gets between the tanks I used a strip of foam (like you use to put around windows) that I got from Rona(Lows).
there is no algae growth here because it is completly dry and no water gets between the tanks.
To get rid of the algae in the tanks I use this,

Hey folks, here are some pic's of the sump for tank A,
there are two sump tanks connected together with two, 2inch pipes to form one sump.SANY0030.JPGSANY0027.JPGSANY0028.JPGSANY0029.JPG

there is another two sump tanks beside these two for tank B..(not Shown in these pic's)
the red ball valves are for emptying the sump for cleaning.
the red/white arrows are the pipes that come from the overflows(one from each end of the tank).
the green/white arrows are connected to the black solenoid which lets in dechlorinated fresh city water to fill the sumps or to add water due to evaporation....( I just press the pad on the panel view and the valve opens).
Do you think there is enough oxygen ???

Also the sumps have wheels on the wood at the front which makes it easier to pull them out a bit and clean....

You are the man!!

Plus I think it's a good idea to have two tanks for a variety of reasons, Moving fish, changing themes, extreme cleaning or modifications, or just being able to seperate fish that don't get along.

yes, some good points, especially keeping fish seperated that don't get along....
