I's This a Good Deal !!! (Car)!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd say its an alright/good deal. So looks like he overheated his car since he got a new engine. But the car might have a lot of miles, so I'd just be looking for a transmission rebuild if the miles are A LOT! For the year and decent paint, Idk about the rims haha.

No.....

Tell him/her to take the rims off and you can get it for $800. Who know if the engine was stolen or not.

You can't just look at it and say.. U gotta drive it.

Gotta turn on the car and listen. no funny sound then good.
Then drive it to see if transmission shifts smoothly. Steering and axle is good and safe.
Take it on the freeway at high speed to see if anything shake or rattle.
With $2000 you worry about the engine to make sure you get to and from. We are not expecting perfect but at least good to go.
It looks clean out side so that's very good to begin with. Who cares about the rims. They are part of the car so don't go there with stupid BS like "take off the rims" then you pay a few hundred.

Check lights and power doors/windows. Check if you will be needing new tires soon. If all that works then you dont need to ad in more money to fix them.

And does it pass smog check.

Price is good if it runs good and pass smog check.

Good luck.

check kbb and carfax if you want to be careful

Good advice^ personally I would be turned off by the engine switcheroo regardless of his reason for it.Isn't that usually a sign of a bad thermostat or water pump though?

No it's not.
It's always good to look up reviews of any particular car. At one point, somebody wanted to trade me their Chevy Malibu for my older Jeep - so I did some research, and found that there are problems with the intake manifold having buildup inside, and some brake problems - so I decided not to go for it.
That said - that is clearly exactly what happened with the car - the intake manifold clogged up, causing the overheating issue.
Go for a car that has good reviews, that you like.

Way better deals out there , no way of knowing if that junkyard motor he put in that car is any better than the one he replaced, keep searching.....

New engine new car:)

It says "different engine"... That's a whole lot different than new. I'd want to know what they swapped with the motor,~ heads, , manifolds, electonics and the like.
But I did double take the body condition, living in nw Ohio its crazy to see a 00 malibu with no holes around the gas door...
