I unfortunately have black mold growing in my room and basement because of my fish tank. I may or may not have black mold poisoning because of it.

My mom is pissed because the basement is newly finished and she doesn't want me to be sick and she is making me take down my tank.

If I can find away to stop the mold from coming back and to decrease humidity in my room I think I can keep the tank.

Thanks.-Ryan

1) a dehumidifier
2) leaving a window ajar
3) sealing the tank top better
4) after clearing off the spores, re=paint the area with paint or a sealant that inhibits mold

This is a common issue in bathrooms with showers.

+1 on the dehumidifier. I use them at work and they are amazing. I have a little machine shop in my lab with manual lathe and mill, bandsaw, grinders etc and they changed something with the AC and everything started rusting up fast! You could feel the dampness in the air even.

Anyway, I added the cheapest McMaster dehumidifier and the sudden rust stopped, and the air feels dry now. I wish I had a floor drain so I didn't have to keep emptying the tank though.. lol that's a couple gallons a day it pull from the air.
