In The Jungle
Finally moved out of my 6th floor apt where I was afraid to even fill my 150 breeder. I can now go BIG, MFK big.... without endless funds tho lol

Met a member here (not sure if he wants me to put his buisness out there so ill keep his name private) who is experienced in building acrylic systems and I think its time for an upgrade.

My stock atm. (These are eyeball estimates)

14" flower ray
10" Orbignyi
11" Pearl
8" Pearl
7" MMxMotoro

Some IT dats, nothing over 6"

3 weeksii polys (will probably not keep these as I was advised against it when the rays get larger)

4 4-5" clown loaches

The focus here is obviously the rays and their max size. I want to build something that can comfortably house them long term. The pearls are here to stay but I am aware that the flower is probably the largest. At most ill add a galaxy or leo or some other black ray but nothing bigger than the breeds I already have.

The first step of this process is deciding on dimensions. I have about 9 to 9.5 feet of wall space to play with but would prefer to leave some space on either side to do maintenance and see the sides etc.

I hate tall tanks and was thinking id go 20" tall but 2ft max. As far as length I'm looking at 8ft and depth 3 to 4 feet. I don't know the limits of acrylic so any advice helps as far as dimensions etc.

If the flower it just too large for this long term then I may just have to let him go to someone with a pond. However I think everyone else can coexist in 8x3or4.

Chime in, motivate me. I want to do this right. The saving will soon begin. Thanks.

Flower ray are big you definitely got to go with at least 8x4x2. I got 6x4x2 but now I wish I get more than 2f high
Because the dats will get big and you will need the height for them

Ok 8x4 it is. As far as height I'm worried about getting the tank out if I decide to move again. The doors are just over 24" wide and id hate to have to leave the tank here. Ill measure them tomorrow and see how far I can push it. I don't expect to be here 5 years to let me dats get 12" :(
As far as your tank, very nice. That's exactly what I'm going for. Built that yourself? And is that glass or acrylic? And how many gallons? About 440 no?

If you have the space i'd push it to 8x5 lol :) I have a 650 9'x4' and its not nearly as big as you think when its all said and done. The taller dim. 24" could also help with water volume, keeping the tank cleaner. Def. request 3/4" construction for the acrylic. More money but well worth it long term. Also cant believe your entry doors are that narrow, most are 30-31+", thats a shame.

4x8x2' :) saves on material costs to use somewhat standard dimensions. Less cutting and less scrap being wasted. Just a thought.
