it is hard to reach different part of the glass because the ceiling height is 8 feet, the tank is 6-1/2 feet, so you cant go up and down, and besides, i just say josh its time to clean the glass on the tanks and "magically" it gets doneso its easy for me to do it this way, but thanks for the idea

hello, i have one for my 1000 gallon tank and in theory it should work, but all acrylic tanks bow and therefor do not have a "flat" surface, so the magnet only touches on the ends or sides, when your working with a 10' long tank and 40" tall and the magnets your working with are so hard to move around the tank, you would want all 10" of the magnet to touch the glass, so you can do 4-5 10" passes, well with the bowing all you get is the top and bottom of the magnet touching, ive tried and tried to make it work, but i gave up when a very small piece of dirt was caught between the magnet and the acrylic and i scratched about 4' of my tank before i realized i was scratching it, that really was the end of me using magnets in my big tanks,When the kids move out and you end up not wanting to snorkel to clean your viewing panels, this site has magnetic algae scrapers for tanks up to 3.5" thick and it looks like you can custom order if your acrylic is thicker: http://mightymagnets.com/floating and flat floating.html
Thanks. I wanted to ask how do you make sure you don't scratch the inside (and the outside for that matter)?
rich shoot me a pm when your ready to sell those tanks ... im not very active on mfk since switching to saltwater, but i would be interested in upgrading to something larger for my sturgeon (unless josh decides he wants it!!)you can pm me, or josh can text me
thanks
