Nope. He has not.Terra, do you still have al of your cichlids?
Nope. He has not.
Any idea what he did with them? Or did they all die?
It was to start with as per the previous owner fresh with some salt added at a ratio of 2cups per 100g but I did start to slowly increase the salinity towards very low end brackish but it seems to prefer less salt. I am now not adding any salt and it seems to be more at home.Awesome fish, have you had it in fresh the whole time you've had it?

No. As Miguel stated, all are moved on(either sold or given away) as it was time for a change.Terra, do you still have al of your cichlids?
Thanks. I always keep the tank lit like that. I am not a lover of bright tanks and it adds to the depth.Do you always keep it that dark in the tank or only for purposes of photo/video? Would love to see what it looks like just normally during the day.
Gorgeous gorgeous fish.
Thanks and good questions Miguel. Potentially it has the ability of reaching around 40"/1m. I had the Murray Cod in the tank before this guy and while I personally love them, they are just not active enough for me. They will pretty much hang out in their favorite hidey hole until they get some serious size which can take many years where as the Mangrove jack is very much an active free swimmer. The Jack also stands out more in my tank where as the cod blended in. More of a problem because of my darker style tank though. I guess the Jack shows a mixed trait of several fish all in one for me. Constant movement in the tank more like Aros, explosive style feeding habits but with intelligence. It doesn't just eat food, it hunts it. It also shows the boisterous traits of CA's at times with territorial antics such as glass banging. Other times he is more playful like a dog where he seems to play games like tag with himself. These guys are pretty much a solo fish in anything less than 10000L due to their extreme aggressive nature towards tank mates so I guess they have to be a good mix of everything else to warrant dedicating such a large tank to one fish. The pic below is him glass banging. I will include footage of it in the next video. It's a real hit with visitors over for party's etc when he starts this up.Brent, absolutely stunning fish!
3 questions (because i will never see such fish for sale, so my ownership has to be through you):
- what size will it attain, in your tank?
- how does it compare, in a tank, show wise and behaviourwise, to a Murray Cod ( one if my other unachievables )?
- in your experience, how do you compare it to a large Parachromis or Bass or Peacock? Wny is it the best solo fish for you? It does not look like it bangs glass or does it?
