Yep they are cool cats, and yours is a beast!
We can't even have LMB which you can get everywhere in Austria.

it is independant, but know were the food comes from. most of its day is spend cruzing the tank. it will get real
excited if i come up to the tank. witch is why the pics are kinda blurry. i am sure if it wasnt competing with all my gars it would take food from my hand. i dont hand feed that tank anymore because my large trops want to take my fingers. even through the top glass.

I thought about that, too, but Aquarium Glaser had a few once so they can be imported; it's probably the lack of MFK's(especially coldwater) here that prevents the cool fish from coming in.
I love your collection of coldwater fish, especially your gars. I'd love to have a collection even near that.

You're welcome man. Have you still got your eel?
Actually I have a connection to a sturgeon breeder in Austria who might be willing to give me some bass; what I'm also looking for is channel cats and coldwater gar but as far as I know LNG SNG and SPG are very rare even in America so the chance of getting them here is even smaller.
Some online stores here sell L.Oculatus apparently but those are probably just Florida gar which won't survive our winters.

i actually sold my american eel. i had no way of eel proofing my 180gal at the time i had it. so i just opted to sell it. it was a really cool fish while i had it. one that i have been wanting to catch since i was a child. if i figure out a chiller i may turn a 125 into a brook trout tank. i have really wanted to do that again.

lng are actually becoming quite common in a few lfs. they are also breeding them in asia.

after i move and get my outdoor pond build i will be geting some broodstock lake sturgeon, shovelnose sturgeon, sng and lng gars. i will also have several european sturgeons aswell. i am particularly fond of dimonds. i may be able to get a permit to catch and transport gizzard shad for pond stocking to help the food supply. i can already get 1000's of dead shad but i would like to have a natural thriving stock in the pond to help keep things going and make it easier for the gars.

if you condition floridas they may be able to make it. it would be a risk, but i know of a few people going to try it here in the northern states.
