delhezi - to buy or not to buy?

No, he didn't get bitten :D He's only 6 weeks old now, so he won't be crawling around just yet. But I don't want any accidents to happen when he gets older.

sorry, wrong button.
By the time he can reach the fishtank, the arowana will have reached his fullgrown size (or will be very near). I don't want him to stick his hand in, accidentally or not, and get bitten. It'll be much worse for a small child than it is for us...

Well he'll learn quick not to put his hands near the tank again. Just like when we were kids finding out the stove was hot for the first time.

Haha, yeah well, I'd rather not have him get burned either :p Anyway, the aro's gone. He's got a good new home, with someone who has more experience and bigger tanks than we do, and he will take good care of the fish :D

I would defiantly say get it i would get rid of the pleco though in a couple years you'll realize it was the right thing to do. Polypterus are very interesting. It will probably live until your son is about 20-25 to so instead of a teaching him responsibility with a dog you can teach him with a fish lol. How to feed it clean it's tank lol. To me that would be pretty awesome cause if he misses a couple feeding the delhezi will be o.k. BUT BEWARE once you buy that delhezi your life will be changed lol.

Buy buy buy! I love my delhezis. They look great, they're easy, and they aren't aggressive at all.

As for the pleco, I am one of the people who has kept a pleco (2 in fact) with bichirs without issue. I saw my larger pleco at the time try to put its lips on my senegal and after touching the spines he never tried it again. I say try it and if necessary you can get rid of the pleco, but if you're keeping it with a ropefish then you're probably fine. Delhezis are more spiny than ropes anyway.

ropes are also in their family so they get along very well
