So I tried the opposite today. Everyone is always trying to get their fish off live. Well I feed my fish no live foods normally. Today I wanted to make a vid to observe the predatory behavior of the vulture catfish and he seemed like he might eat the fish at first, but then he chickened out and now I have catfish and a rosey living in my tank. lol. Can anyone help me to get my catfish to eat a minnow??? :grinno: I'll post a vid later tonight of the attempt.

lol, The rosey is still going strong! Think I'll name her rosie!!! Getting darker out and the vulture is quit active. We'll see if this little guy survives the night.

My guess is that there will be rosie will become no-sie by the morning :p

Could be since the tank has Vulture catfish 11.5", 2 sun cats 9 and 11", a raphael 6-7", and granny cat 6". lol. The suncats for sure will probably take it tonight! Be interesting to see in the morning. Just did a water change today too. Usually more hungry on water change days.

Hey bro when I had my vulture he wouldn't eat fish either so I tried nightcrawlers and earthworms and he went for them. After that the next time I fed live fish to the rest of the tank he joined in but the feeders I use are pool goldfish around 4 innches. Though if I remember correctly the vulture cat is called that because they're more likely to take chunks out of larger fish and to scavenge on bigger dead or wounded fish. So they may not be as naturally inclined to take small prey. I had a Pseudopimelodus Bufonis that refused to eat small fish, he wouldn't go after anything unless it was a frozen rat pup or one of those pool goldfish I mentioned above. Normal feeders where ignored.

My impression too. They scavenge on anything edible, including human offal, reportedly.

Lol...this isn't what I was expecting. I have a rtc that won't eat anything live either for some strange reason although my other will eat anything, dead or alive or inorganic.
