That's my old guy. He was slaughtered by my Goliath before I managed to tame the gatf. This guy was a WONDERFUL fish and I hope to have more someday.

You aren't derailing - that's exactly the stuff I'd like to know, too!
That Atlantic is beautiful.
Do both have to be in brackish / salt, when they get bigger ? If so, what size? And how much salt ?

a pic of my big 15-16 inch Atlantic Tarpon.... not the best pic, but its something :)<br />

nope, no salt required, they can live in fresh their entire life.... i've had mine for about 2 yrs and i got him at 3 inches.... he was between 10-12 after the first year, now his growth has slowed down a bit ... i'd say a fast growing fish that needs a huge tank for life, but not a super fast growing fish if that makes any sense, and from what i understand it takes a very long time to reach max size... whether this is because they have a slow growth rate as they get larger, or because they require such a massive tank to grow huge i do not know, probably both factors play a part in their growth

Indopac pop up fairly often for about $65. OSA has some right now.

Atlantic tarpons are a different story; they're few and far between and normally run between $200 and $300, though they can occasionally be had for much cheaper.

i paid 100 for mine 2 yrs ago.... i have an LFS by me selling 2 Atlantics at 4 inches, but for 350 each, which is a bit outrageous, but who knows, maybe a bunch died and he's trying to make up the loss .... i see the pacific variety for sale by some of the vendors on here occasionally and their usually around 60 bucks
